COVID-19 April 15, 2020

This is the Fledge’s Daily Briefing. The statistics below are updated daily. COVID Containment: Red People in Fledge: Very Low Risk Food Supplies: Low Cash on Hand: Low

We believe we our community is still at a very high risk of spreading the virus, and that we should be doubling down on our shelter in place efforts, wearing masks, and social distancing. We also believe people should be changing their diets to get strength in case they contract COVID-19 and changing other habits such as exercise, smoking, alcohol intake, etc. There is a potential of a large protest at the capital, if this happens it will increase the risk of Lansing. Later, we will hold these organizers accountable.

We are very concerned about food security because of labor shortage, waste occurring now, processing plants shut down, runs on food in the coming months. We need to strengthen our food supply and cash on hand at the Fledge. The Fledglings are amazing and doing many heroic things (See Covid-19 Response above).

Stimulus checks are being distributed. Jobs are still being lost. It is going to be very difficult to get businesses back on their feet. Our concern for the economy is there, but not our focal point. We need living humans to have a good economy.

We are also thinking about what we look like when we open back up (note we are not in a hurry). Today I set up the locks on the doors to trigger fans coming on to create a positive air flow going out the building. The hope is that it will push infected particles out of the air as a person enters. I have no evidence that this works, but the hypothesis is that we can make it so it helps.
